Tonka’s legacy - lesson’s from my heart horse

Tonka was quite literally the horse of a lifetime. He was the reason that Kelly started training to become a Horse Behaviourist. He felt unsafe when she put his saddle on and even though Kelly had ruled out all of the usual problems, by having his saddle, back and teeth checked, he continued to demonstrate pain grimaces and obvious discomfort when she tacked him up. So off she went to the Natural Animal Centre to learn about equine body language, how to apply Behavioural Science to train horses and how to help them meet their species specific needs, e.g. how to live their best horsey lives.

Co-operative care

B having his feet trimmed in the field, with Kelly as his trusty food dispenser.

His friends and family are nearby, so that he can feel safe in their company and he is where he is most settled. The field where he lives his life.
